Child safety standards
Desi is for adults 18 and over. We have zero tolerance for child sexual abuse and exploitation (CSAE), including child sexual abuse material (CSAM), in any form.
Who can use Desi
- Desi is designed for and offered to adults 18 and over. Sign-up asks for a full birth date and does not accept anyone under 18.
- The app is rated 18+ in the App Store and Google Play, and is not directed to children or teenagers.
- If we learn that an account belongs to someone under 18, we remove it.
What is not allowed
- Any content, messages, photos or links that sexualize, exploit or endanger children.
- Grooming, solicitation or trafficking of minors, and any attempt to contact a minor.
- Using Desi to share, request or advertise CSAM.
Violations lead to immediate removal of the account and the content, and a report to the authorities.
How we act
- Report and block in the app. Every profile and message has Report and Block. Reporting also blocks.
- Human review. A person reviews every report, and we aim to act within 24 hours. Reports about children are handled first.
- Reporting to authorities. We report apparent CSAM and child exploitation to the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children (NCMEC) CyberTipline and to law enforcement, and we preserve information as the law requires. For members outside the United States we also cooperate with local authorities and hotlines.
- Compliance. We follow the child safety laws that apply to us in the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, India and wherever else the app is offered.
